Research Fellow | Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau
Bastian Prell, M.Sc. (he/him) is a passionate senior researcher and dedicated educator at the Department of Socio-Cyber-Physical Production Systems and the iC3 Smart Production research group at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau, Germany. His research focuses on the interplay between human factors, technology, and organizational dynamics. He is particularly interested in topics such as technology acceptance, usage, and diffusion — both in industrial and artisanal (craft) contexts.
Bastian has a versatile academic background, holding degrees in both Business and Mechanical Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and TU Dresden. His professional experience spans a wide range of organizations: from industrial giants like Siemens and applied research institutions such as Fraunhofer, to boutique consultancies and several start-ups.
Beyond academia, Bastian actively engages in public science communication. His enthusiasm for sharing knowledge has led him to win several FameLab competitions. One of his favourite teaching topics is the integration of social, economic, and ecological sustainability principles in engineering — a subject he teaches to undergraduate students in automation technology.
He also co-leads the Learning Factory at TH Wildau, a hands-on teaching and research facility equipped with state-of-the-art industrial technologies that support both student learning and applied research.
