What society CanBe with technology
The CanBe Lab at the University of Canberra applies behavioural science and advanced tools to design programs that drive societal change. We work with government, business, and community partners to improve wellbeing, strengthen trust, and create healthier workplaces and services.
By combining behavioural insights with technologies like eye tracking, emotion analysis, and generative AI, we test interventions before rollout and measure real impact — helping partners co-design solutions that deliver lasting transformation.
From data to discovery, we use advanced tools to understand and shape human behaviour through AI driven interactions.

The Canberra Behavioural Lab (Can Be Lab) is a new research facility within the University of Canberra’s Faculty of Business, Government and Law. Purpose-built to explore how people think, feel, and act in real-world and simulated environments, the Lab brings together biometric technology, behavioural science, and applied research. Using tools like eye tracking, facial expression analysis, voice recognition, and wearable sensors, the Can Be Lab helps researchers, industry, and government partners uncover insights that inform policy, improve services, and design better human-centred systems. Whether studying consumer decision-making, public trust, or wellbeing in the workplace, the Lab provides a space where human behaviour can be seen, measured, and understood.

Meet the bright minds behind the mission.

We design and test behavioural interventions that create real impact.
Our projects investigate how behaviour can be better understood and influenced for good by focusing on real-world behavioural challenges faced by consumers, employees and citizens.
From reducing household energy use through smart nudges, to supporting staff wellbeing in high-pressure jobs, to improving how citizens engage with public services — our work helps businesses, non-profits and governments build smarter, more human-centred systems.
Whether you’re a student, researcher, or professional become a part of Can Be!
